Product Description

The Aqua-Therm is a wood-burning boiler. It goes outside the home, usually in a shop or woodshed. It can also be purchased as a completely enclosed, sheltered unit. A circulating pump moves the heated water through underground pipes to the house.
It can be hooked up to:
- Hot water baseboards
- Hot water radiators
- Radiant floor systems
- Hot water baseboards
- Hot water radiators
- Radiant floor systems
The mess and fire stays outside. No smoke, soot, ashes, bugs, or wood chips in you home.
Features
Closed System

The system is filled, then sealed. There’s no need to keep adding water. The Aqua-Therm will operate at the same pressure and temperature as any L.P. or electric boiler. (Normally 12-15 psi at 160-180°). A closed system eliminates rust and mineral build up problems and allows easy connection to other hot water heating systems.
Less Water

Aqua-Therm has less water than most major brands. Less water is more efficient; just ask any plumbing & heating professional. High efficiency electric and LP boilers have less than 5 gallons if water. The Aqua-Therm will maintain the water at a constant temperature (Normal operating range 160°-180°). Heat is taken from the boiler when a wall thermostat in you building senses the need. By using fewer gallons, it is affordable to use anti-freeze to protect wood burner and underground lines. This can be especially important if a power failure would occur.
Easy Operation

- Put wood in.
- Set the desired boiler temperature (usually 160°-180°).
- Set the house thermostat.
- Sit back and enjoy the heat!

To take ashes out, open the ash door. Insert the crank and turn. The handy auger will pull the ashes from the entire length of the firebox. No need to let the fire go down to remove ashes. |
Forced Air Draft

A forced air draft is used to bring combustion air into the fire. In the Aqua-Therm, the air comes in underneath the grates for a more complete, uniform burn. The forced draft is superior to a natural draft because:
- Chimney height doesn’t affect the burn.
- Faster heat recovery.
- Doesn’t smolder. It either burns hot or shuts down.
- Hotter fire will burn almost any material – even green wood.
Stainless Steel Firebox

![]() |
For added life, the Aqua-Therm has an all stainless steel firebox. This high quality material is strong and corrosion resistant. It has a round firebox and oval door. This design eliminates corner stress points preventing cracking. The outer jacket on all models is 10-gauge steel. Large firebox is easy to fill. Wood doesn’t have to be cut so short. Extra big door makes it easy to put logs in and they don’t have to be split. |
Installation

![]() |
Pipes are buried approximately 22-38” deep and must be insulated to minimize heat loss. A closed cell type of insulation, which will not absorb water, is recommended. Standard 2” blue styro sheets are available at almost any lumberyard. The sheets can be sawed and assembled into a box for the water pipes. Try our pre-manufactured EZ-Lay Pipe for a simplified installation. |
Applications
Hot Water Systems

The Aqua-Therm works great with any type of hot water system. Baseboards, radiators and radiant floors can be hooked up with ease.
![]() |
The Aqua-Therm operates at the same temperature and pressure as your existing boiler and you can hook directly into it. No need to change any thermostats or zones. Everything will operate as before. Your Existing boiler can be used as back-up heat and would be set to come on automatically if the Aqua-Therm ran out of fuel. |
![]() |
Many new homes as will as workshops, garages, etc. are using hot water radiant floor heat. Pipes are put in the concrete slab or under a subfloor. This type of system provides nice warm floors as will as economical heat. It is also used for snow melting applications in sidewalks and driveways. |
Hot Air Systems

The most common type of installation is with a hot (forced) air furnace. To use an Aqua-Therm with this type of heat, a water to air heat exchanger is needed. This heat exchanger works on the same principle as your car radiator. Air blows through the heat exchanger taking the heat from the water and plowing it into our existing ducts.
![]() |
You may notice when the Aqua-Therm is running, the air coming out of the ducts is warmer than it was with your old furnace. A separate thermostat is added. Your existing furnace is left intact and will operate as back-up if you are away and can’t refill the Aqua-Therm |
Domestic Hot Water

![]() |
This water-to-water heat exchanger will provide hot water for your household use. The boiler water circulates through the outer jacket, which has a spiral inside tube. This spiral increases heat transfer to the domestic water, as the hot boiler water is pumped through. |
Between the spiral and inner tubes, there is a third wall, which protects your domestic water supply from contamination in the event of a leak.
The tempering valve can be set between 120°F and160°F. This valve will mix a measured amount of cold water with the hot as it leaves the water heater, giving the desired temperature at the tap.
